Moving from Avast Cleanup

Last checked 7 November 2026. Avast Cleanup is now part of the Avast One app, with a trial rather than a free plan on its page. windowsweep's Free plan runs every section, with a monthly count of real runs.

What this covers, and what stays with Avast Cleanup

Sections 7 to 10 cover browser, desktop-app and Windows user caches and user temp. Section 26 uninstalls what you pick, and sections 23 and 27 list what removed programs left. The sections page says what each one removes.

What windowsweep will not do for you:

  • Sleep mode for programs you keep, the bloatware detection and the uninstall simulator. windowsweep has none of them.
  • Tracking cookies stay untouched by windowsweep.

The move, step by step

  1. Look first. This deletes nothing:

    npx windowsweep --scan
  2. Rehearse the sections that do this job. Each line says what it would remove, and nothing goes:

npx windowsweep --dry-run --only 7,8,9,10 --yes
  3. Run them. There is no undo for a cache it deletes, though the program rebuilds it:

    npx windowsweep --only 7,8,9,10 --yes
  4. Prefer a window? The desktop app drives the same engine. A real run there counts against your plan's allowance. A dry-run and the command line never do.

Removing a program from this machine does not cancel a subscription you hold with its maker. That is between you and them.

Read the safety model if you want to see what every run refuses.
