Moving from Wise Disk Cleaner
Last checked 7 November 2026. Wise Disk Cleaner is free with no run count, and its page covers temporary files, old updates, logs and uninstalled residues. windowsweep does most of that with a dry-run first, and it clears no cookies.
What this covers, and what stays with Wise Disk Cleaner
Sections 7, 9 and 10 cover browser caches, Windows user caches and user temp. Section 12 covers Windows Update and system temp when elevated, and sections 23 and 27 list what uninstalled programs left. The sections page says what each one removes.
What windowsweep will not do for you:
- Cookies and history. Wise Disk Cleaner's privacy sweep clears them and windowsweep does not.
- Defrag and TRIM. windowsweep has neither.
The move, step by step

Look first. This deletes nothing:
npx windowsweep --scan -
Rehearse the sections that do this job. Each line says what it would remove, and nothing goes:
npx windowsweep --dry-run --only 7,9,10 --yes -
Run them. There is no undo for a cache it deletes, though the program rebuilds it:
npx windowsweep --only 7,9,10 --yes -
Prefer a window? The desktop app drives the same engine. A real run there counts against your plan's allowance. A dry-run and the command line never do.
Wise Disk Cleaner's scheduled cleaning has a counterpart here too: npm install -g windowsweep, then windowsweep --install-task for a weekly run.
